Golden weather through holiday
Adjust font size:  ZoomIn ZoomOut

Good weather conditions throughout China during Golden Week should cheer travelers while global warming continues to push the mercury up, local meteorologists said over the weekend.

Southern parts of the country and the strip of land between the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers will see clear days with light winds and high temperatures from October 1 to 6, Song Lianchun, spokesman for the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), said in a news briefing on Saturday.

Travelers to Beijing, a popular draw on National Day when people flock to the city's cultural heritage sites, will also enjoy clement weather and sunny or mildly cloudy skies throughout the week.

Rain may plague some parts of the country, however, with visitors to western and northern areas like the Sichuan Basin and Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau most at risk. Drivers are especially reminded to check conditions and prepare accordingly, Song said.

The CMA plans to work closely with tourist agencies, airlines and security offices to better service travelers. It recommended they regularly check its forecasts.
