Climate talks: From Tianjian to Cancun

The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, COP 15

China will hold a?United Nations climate conference in northern coastal city of Tianjin from Oct. 4 to 9. This is a final preparatory meeting ahead of UN talks opening in November in Cancun, Mexico, and the first time that such formal meeting has been convened in China.

About 3,000 delegates from party and observer countries under the United Nation Framework Convention of Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol will participate the meeting.

In 2009 China committed itself to the target that by 2020 it would bring down its carbon dioxide emission per unit GDP by 40 to 45 percent compared with the 2005 level.
