The Congo Basin is the sedimentary basin that is the drainage of the Congo River of west equatorial Africa. The world second largest tropical rain forest grows here. It is the home to plenty of animals including okapis, chimpanzees, leopards, and elephants. Although 90 percent of the region is now untouched, logging could eliminate half the forest by mid-century.
