Looking for a great place to hang out? I've found this bar. No it's not just a bar; they have a restaurant as well. In fact it's more than merely a bar and a restaurant, but a place you can listen to a live music or sing your favorite tunes backed up by the band or get on the dance floor and bop or eat and drink till late. What is the name of this place? The Philippine Islands has a 4-piece Philippine band banging out old and new sounds from 20:00 to 1:00. Close your eyes and you'd swear you could hear Nat King Cole, Louie Armstrong or Tom Jones. No it's just Nicki Flores, one of the best singers I've heard in a long time.

If you're hungry, pop into the restaurant and check out their medium priced menu. Along with the Philippine favorites, they have appetizers, grilled meats and spaghetti and rice dishes. Their specialty is Roasted Pig and Chicken, traditional Philippine food made with roasted herbs shipped in from the Philippines. They also serve lunch and afternoon tea.
The bar serves up all cocktails and beers including Heineken, San Mig on tap, Kingway and Qingdao at RMB 30 a bottle. Special promotions on a brand of beer will get you 6 bottles at RMB 180 and 6 free. Snacks are available if a full meal is too much. Happy Hours, which begins on October 15th and will offer buy one drink, get one free from 5:30 to 8:30.
