Youngsters Favor Travel During Holidays
The ?golden holiday week? beginning from October 1 is coming and it is predictable who will be the most active travelers during the holidays. According to the report entitled ?Holiday-Travel Consumption of Urban People in 2002,? the youngsters with higher educational level and income, who make up 3.2 percent of the total population, absolutely constitute a vital contingent in the holiday-travel consumption market.

The research found that the frequency of tour and the distribution ratio of the population are in inverse proportion. Only 3.2 percent people belong to that of high frequency holiday-travelers, and 75.9 percent tourists prefer to travel in other days rather than public holidays.

At the same time, the multitude of high-frequency holiday-traveling and consumption has some obvious characters, such as being younger (below 35 years old),having received more education (at least junior college level) and having high income (family monthly income not less than 3,000 yuan or US$350). They usually focus on natural scenery, famous spots, and places with profound cultural background. The matter of tour cost is not much of their concern.

Marketing experts believe that these people, who are more interested in traveling during long public holidays, are the main group of tourist consumption and will maintain as a supportive factor of the tourism industry in the future. Analyzing the demand of these young, high-income people will bring in high profit for the trade.
