Weekly Weather Forecast (May 8 to 14)

Northwest China: May 8 to 10, central and northern Xinjiang will be dominated by overcast or rainy days, normally with light rain or snow accompanied by force 4 to 6 northerly or easterly winds. Some of southern Xinjiang will have floating dust, while eastern sections of the region will meet light to moderate rain or thundershowers. May 11 to 12, streams of cold air will affect northern Xinjiang, bringing along rain or snow with possible strong winds. May 13 to 14, eastern sections will receive light to moderate rain. Affected by cold air, the Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province will experience strong winds with floating dust expected in some areas.

 

North China: May 8 to 10, most of the region will have light to moderate rain with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in some of southern sections. Central and eastern sections of Inner Mongolia will have force 4 to 6 southerly, then northerly winds. May 12 to 13, most of the region will be cloudy to overcast with rainfall in some places. Around May 14, another cold front will affect central and northernmost sections of the region, bringing along force 4 to 6 northerly winds and showers in some areas, while some of central and western Inner Mongolia will see floating dust.

 

Northeast China: May 8 to 10, most of the region will have light rain with force 4 to 6 southerly or northerly winds. Some of southern and easternmost parts will expect moderate rainfall. May 12 to 14, most of the region, affected by another cold front bring will have strong winds, rain or snow as well as lower temperatures. 

 

Central China: May 8 to 10, most of the region will have light to moderate rain or thundershowers with heavy to stormy rainfall expected in some of central and southern areas south of the Yangtze River, Hubei and Hunan provinces, accompanied by occasional lightning storms and strong winds. May 11, northern parts of the region will be cloudy with showers while southern parts will meet light to moderate rain. May 12 to 14, central and northern parts will be cloudy to overcast with light to moderate rain, and some of the areas will probably have heavy to stormy rain. Southern parts will be cloudy or overcast with possible showers.

 

East China: May 8, areas south of the Huaihe River will have light to moderate rain or thundershowers, while some of Yangtze-Huaihe rivers valleys and areas north of the Yangtze River will meet heavy rainfall. May 9 to 11, most of the region will have moderate to heavy rain from north to south with heavy to stormy rainfall expected in some areas, accompanied by strong winds and lightning storms in some places. May 12 to 14, northern parts will have force 4 to 5 southerly, then northerly winds while central and southern parts will continue to see heavier rainfall.

 

South China: May 8 to 9, western and northern parts will have light to moderate rain or thundershowers. May 10 to 11, most of the region will see light to moderate rain or thundershowers with heavy to stormy rain expected in some areas, accompanied by strong winds and lightning storms in some places. May 12 to 14, most parts will be dominated by cloudy skies with showers or thundershowers possible in western and coastal areas.

 

Southwest China: Eastern sections will see frequent precipitation during the week. May 8 to 11, central and eastern Tibet will have light to moderate rain or snow while eastern sections of the region will meet light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Some of central and eastern Sichuan Province, Chongqing Municipality and Guizhou will receive heavy rain with storms expected in some places. May 12 to 14, southern and eastern Tibet and eastern sections of the region will get light to moderate rain or snow with heavy rain possible in some of the Sichuan Basin and Guizhou Province.
