The Chinese Foreign Ministry has warned Chinese citizens not to travel to the Solomon Islands until the country's situation has eased.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a travel advisory on its website on Sunday, saying that since the unrest happened on April 18, the situation has remained intense and the possibility of further riots still exists.
During the recent unrest in the Solomon Islands' capital Honiara, dozens of residences and shops in the city's Chinatown were looted and set on fire. Hundreds of local Chinese residents were forced to flee their homes.
Violence erupted on the South Pacific island chain on Tuesday after Snyder Rini was elected prime minister.
