China and Singapore signed a new aviation memorandum of understanding Friday to enlarge bilateral aviation transportation.

According to the memorandum, the two nations will have no limitations in operating cargo or passenger flights. There is no limit on frequency either. It also has a looser arrangement on code-sharing and aircraft leasing.

Since 1979, bilateral aviation relations between China and Singapore developed rapidly.

In 2004, airline companies of both nations carried passengers of 1.87 million. Currently, there are seven Chinese airline companies operating flights to Singapore, with 82 passenger flights and seven cargo flights per week. There are four Singapore airline companies operating flights to China, with 88 flights and 10 cargo flights per week.

Experts said the new aviation memorandum marked a new era of bilateral aviation relations which will provide convenience for airline enterprises of both nations and promote economic and trade relations.
