Recently an exciting piece of news came from the "2005 World Environment Day and Global Green Ecology Conference" sponsored by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and organized by the Communications Coordination Committee for the United Nations (CCC/UN).
After careful appraisal by the excellence evaluation group of the 2005 World Environment Day and review by CCC/UN and Globe Eco-Restoration and Development Foundation (GERDF), Lushan Mountain Scenic Spot was the only one chosen as "Best Ecological Scenic Spot of UN" in the world on this conference.
The awarding ceremony of "Best Ecological Scenic Spot of UN" was held in San Francisco on June 4th DST.
When receiving the plaque of "Best Ecological Scenic Spot of UN" from the hands of Mr. Richard Jordon, secretary general of CCC/UN, Ouyang Quanhua, representative of Lushan, excitedly expressed that Lushan would regard this honor as a new starting point and continue to devote itself to protection and development of ecological environment so as to mark Lushan's ecological environment protection a global pride. With this honor, Lushan drew attention from all over the world on this conference.
Mr. Richard Jordon said in his passionate speech that Lushan, a treasure of China's Jiangxi Province, had made achievement in terms of ecological protection, which conformed to the requirement of CCC/UN's evaluation.
Lushan is worthy of being chosen to be the only "Best Ecological Scenic Spot of UN." Lushan makes contributions not only to China's but also to the world's ecological environment protection.
