China to continue WB support in helping developing nations
Adjust font size:

China will continue to support the World Bank in helping developing countries, Premier Wen Jiabao said on Monday.

"China will continue to support the World Bank in helping the vast developing countries strengthen their capability of resisting risk and to realize sustainable economic development," Wen told World Bank President Robert B. Zoellick in a meeting.

The premier said he believed the World Bank, as the world's largest multilateral financial organization of development, could play a bigger role in promoting economic growth and poverty reduction.

He praised the active support the body had given to China's economic and social development. He hoped the two sides could further strengthen cooperation in finance, technology and human resources development.

Wen also called on the international community to strengthen cooperation in responding to the challenges brought about by globalization and in sharing opportunities for development.

Zoellick said it was important for the World Bank to strengthen cooperation with China. Such cooperation was not just conducive to promoting the development of China, but also for enriching the ideas of the World Bank and thus providing experiences for other developing countries.
