Turkey has denied any evidence indicating that the money of the ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was found in its banks, Turkish daily Radikal (Radical) reported on Thursday.
Two weeks ago, the United States asked the help of Turkish Finance Ministry and Central Bank to "freeze Saddam's money when traced" in Turkish banks.
The Turkish government denied the request afterwards, saying "there has been no such mobility in bank accounts so far."
Since the Saddam regime was toppled and former Iraqi leaders disappeared into darkness, the United States has set the world banking system on alert, saying Saddam and his family had probably shifted money totaling between 2 billion and 10 billion US dollars out of Iraq.
The Saddam family was reported to have cashed out 1 billion dollars from the Iraqi Central Bank one day before the US-led coalition forces waged a war against the country on March 20.
Washington says it will confiscate the money of Saddam to service Iraq's foreign debts and compensate for losses caused by war.
