Chinese Premier Meets Vietnamese Communist Party Chief
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said in Beijing Tuesday that, in view of the current complex global state of affairs, China and Vietnam should strengthen their cooperation to seek common development and to safeguard their common interests.

Wen said, during a meeting with General Secretary Nong Duc Manh of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, that as socialist countries, China and Vietnam share common aspirations and development goals.

The Vietnamese communist party chief arrived in Beijing Monday on a working visit to China. Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), held talks with Manh Monday.

Wen stressed that the new generation of leadership, with Hu Jintao as the general secretary, stands ready to work with the Vietnamese side to take the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperative relations between the two sides to a new level.

The two sides stressed the importance of economic cooperation and trade, and Wen said the two countries should upgrade the level of economic cooperation and increase trade.

Manh thanked China for its long-term support to Vietnam in its national liberation, its reunification and its socialist construction. He said the leaders of Vietnam will work with Chinese leaders to push forward the "brotherly relations" between the two countries.

Manh said Vietnam hopes to exchange experiences with the Chinese side in the areas of legislation, party construction, administrative management and economic construction.
