In a new legislative session beginning Monday, China's top legislature will work on a landmark multi-volume civil law draft which will cover various economic and social sectors concerning people's civil life.
The draft is one of the legal documents submitted to the six-day 31st session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC).
Other drafts are related to the fourth amendment to criminal law, the promotion of private educational institutions, amendments to agricultural law, amendments to grassland law, administrative license law and citizenship identification. Some of the drafts had been presented for deliberation before.
Drafts on the ordinance on customs bearings, ports, the control and prevention of radioactive pollution will be tabled with lawmakers Tuesday, according to the agenda.
The draft of a decision on convening the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress will also be discussed at the legislative meeting.
Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting Monday morning.
