Over 140 students surviving the unprecedented June 10 mountain torrents return to school again in Shalan June 13, 2005. Classes were moved to Shalan Middle School, and traumatized students, many terrified of returning to school, were counselled by psychologists from Mudanjiang city. The central government has earmarked 10 million yuan (US$1.2 million) to rebuild Shalan Central Primary School.
