Chinese film star Zhang Ziyi will have a singing role in her new movie Ambushed from Ten Directions, or 'House of Flying Daggers'.

The soundtrack is by famous Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi, who has also written the music for several other Chinese movies including Zhou Yu's Train starring another renowned Chinese actress Gong Li.

According to world-famous Chinese director Zhang Yimou, the actress play the role of a geisha girl and sing for the first time in a movie.

The film is going to be finished this April and will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
