The Myth was officially released on 23rd of September. During its first date of release, it set the new record of 8 millions (RMB is the currency used all through the article) one day box office score and surpassed the performance of the summer hits Initial D and Seven Swords at its 7 millions. The national accumulative total gross on the first four days up to 26th of September was 26.5 millions, this is again a new height that broke the first week performance record of Seven Swords at 26 millions. The Myth is now at the highest position on the weekly accumulative box office chart, its score is actually a double to another title also by Jackie Chan, New Police Story.

According to the representative of its distribution company Baoli Bona, The Myth made over 4 millions in the every of the 3 major cities, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, he/she forecasts that the total box office for the full week is going to reach 40 millions. Further, with the National Golden Week long holidays ahead, The Myth will capture an excellent timing for huge revenue that will make it reach the 100 millions mark. No wonder Jackie Chan and Stanley Tong are already making their way to Guangzhou, in reply to an invitation by the distribution company to celebrate the huge success.
