December 11, 2004 marked the 3rd anniversary of China's entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO). In those three years, the Chinese government fulfilled all its undertakings, drastically reducing import tariffs, canceling non-tariff measures, and liberalizing foreign trade, all the while perfecting its law system and investment environment. Some 2,300 laws and regulations relating to trade in goods, services and intellectual property rights and investment were reviewed, resulting in the abolition of over 830 and revision of over 320. In February 2004, Chinese permanent Ambassador to WTO Sun Zhenyu led the Chinese delegation to participate in the G20 2nd round of talks on agricultural negotiation and other subjects in Geneva. In March 2004, Ambassador Sun Zhenyu attended the 21st Formal Special Session of the WTO Committee on Agriculture and took part in the G20 senior officials' activities. Sun Zhenyu also met with trade negotiators from the US, Japan, India, and Finland on appointment. China was invited to the WTO African Regional Workshop on Cotton in Cotonou, Benin in March 2004.
