On July 6, 1976, Zhu De passed away, and on September 9 of the same year Mao Zedong passed away. After that, Jiang Qing and her counterrevolutionary clique tried to seize the Party and state power. On October 6, 1976, the CPC Central Committee crushed the clique, bringing to an end the turmoil of the ?cultural revolution.?
