The anti-Fascist war between the 1930s and 1940s was the first just war of a global scale in human history. It ended in the Axis' unconditional surrender in 1945, 60 years ago. Over 2 billion people in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania (exceeding four-fifths of the world population at that time) were involved in the war. People who had experienced that unheard-of calamity will never forget those days when flames of battle raged everywhere.

On December 26, 1941, Hong Kong fell and the Japanese army held an entry ceremony.
The Japanese policy of "burning all, killing all and looting all" turned countless peaceful villages into rubble.
The Japanese army set fire to countless villages in their "clearing-up" campaigns in rural areas in south China.
Japanese troops took pleasure in murdering Chinese people and troops.
A village destroyed by the Japanese.
Unyielding barbed-wire fences around one of the many "no-man's-lands" created by the Japanese.
Shown are the bones of Chinese as the result of the "Pindingshan Massacre" in northeast China.
"No-man's-land" broke apart thousands of happy families. Shown is an orphan in a "no-man's-land."
Large numbers of Chinese civilians in Fuping County, Hebei Province, were killed by the Japanese in 1943.
