Archaeologists working on the Nihewan historical site in north China's Hebei Province have uncovered 35 pre-historic sites and some elephants' footprints dating back 2 million years.
It is the first time such footprints have been discovered at this historical site, CRIENGLISH.com reported Wednesday.
3,800 stone implements and animal fossils have so far been unearthed at Nihewan.
Experts say the excavations will provide valuable information for the further study of the environment and animal behavior in the area 2 million years ago.
