Beijing to Host 2005 International Publishing Forum

Beijing is going to host the second International Publishing Forum on August 30, 2005. The theme of this year is Innovation and Development in the Publishing Industry.

The annual event to be held at Beijing Kempinski Hotel is jointly sponsored by the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and the Information Office of the State Council. The organizers include China National Publications Import and Export Corporation; China Press and Publishing Journal; China Book Business Report and Chinese Institute of Publishing Science.

Top government officials from GAPP and senior executives from the Chinese and international publishing groups and companies will make presentations at the forum. The participants will include government officials and professionals from the publishing and bookselling industries.

Simultaneous interpretation of three languages including Chinese, English and French will be provided at the meeting for the participants.

The Beijing International Publishing Forum is an important international forum of publishing industry held in China. It aims at strengthening and promoting exchange and cooperation between Chinese and foreign publishers and booksellers, drawing on experiences and exchanging information from each other.

The first Beijing International Publishing Forum, which had been successful and drawn wide attention in the publishing circle home and abroad, was held in August 2004. 

Following the forum the Beijing International Book Fair will be held on September 1.
