Films Record Life of Great Man

To mark the centenary of the birth of Deng Xiaoping, a series of theoretical documentary TV series, feature films and special theatrical festivals have been promoted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

Among the commemorating activities, engaging film and TV works eulogizing Deng during different periods of his revolutionary life are being screened on CCTV channels.

The series is called Glorious Traces, and among the season of works are the feature films Deng Xiaoping, Revolt in Baise (Baise Qi Yi), and Hello, Pacific Ocean (Ni Hao Taiping Yang), The Huaihai Campaign (Huaihai Zhan Yi), and the Decisive Battle (Da Jue Zhan).

The documentary film Hello, Xiaoping (Xiaoping Ni Hao), produced by Central News Documentary Film Studio, was released on August 10 in cinemas across China, and can also be viewed on CCTV-1.

Another two feature films Deng Xiaoping in 1928 and Years in France (Falanxi Suiyue), produced by CCTV's film channel and other production companies, are being shown through to August 25.

The former film has drawn material from Deng's experience during strenuous underground work in Shanghai in 1928, while the latter draws on material from Deng's revolutionary times in France from 1920 to 1925.

Since the start of July, more than 20 documentary TV series have been shown on all TV stations across the country.

The films vividly recall Deng's loyalty to his country and its people, and his contributions to China's reform. The films also show that Deng Xiaoping enjoyed the deep affection and support of the people.

Besides the films and TV series, TV stations nationwide will broadcast the many festivals in memory of Deng Xiaoping.

Meanwhile, various exhibitions are also being held across China.

In Beijing, an exhibition focusing on Deng's work and life, is now being held at the National Museum of China on the Tianan'men Square, which runs through September 19.

In Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province, a photo exhibition named "Forever Spring -- Deng Xiaoping and Guangdong's Reform and Opening-up," is now on display and will run till the end of the month. The exhibition has 300 rare photos of Deng and other historical figures relating to Guangdong's reform and opening-up.
