Harmony Between Humanity and Nature

Nature is the mother of life, and the foundations for survival and development of humanity. Humanity and nature form a community of life. Human beings must revere, respect, accommodate and protect nature. To protect nature is to protect human beings, and to build an eco-civilization is to benefit humanity.

Civilization thrives if the eco-environment is healthy, and declines if it deteriorates. The rise and fall of a civilization hinge on eco-environmental changes. Humanity must not take from nature without giving back, develop without protection, and consume without restoration. Only by observing the laws of nature can humanity avoid costly blunders. Any harm we inflict on nature will eventually return to haunt us. This is a reality we have to face.

The report to the 19th CPC National Congress made achieving harmony between humanity and nature one of the 14 points of the basic policy that underpins the CPC's endeavors to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Acting on the principles of prioritizing resource conservation and environmental protection and letting nature restore itself, China will endeavor to develop spatial configurations, industrial structures, and ways of work and life, all of which are resource-saving and eco-friendly, so as to restore the serenity, harmony and beauty of nature. There is a saying in China that people should protect the eco-environment as they protect their eyes, and achieve harmony between humanity and nature.

Harmony between humanity and nature is a continuation of Marxist thought on that relationship. It is an important indicator of an eco-civilization in the new era, and a major feature of socialist modernization.

人與自然和諧共生

自然是生命之母，是人類賴以生存和發(fā)展的根基。人與自然是生命共同體。人類應(yīng)該以自然為根，敬畏自然、尊重自然、順應(yīng)自然、保護自然。保護自然環(huán)境就是保護人類，建設(shè)生態(tài)文明就是造福人類。

生態(tài)興則文明興，生態(tài)衰則文明衰。生態(tài)環(huán)境變化直接影響文明興衰演替。歷史教訓(xùn)表明，在整個發(fā)展過程中，不能只講索取不講投入，不能只講發(fā)展不講保護，不能只講利用不講修復(fù)。人類只有遵循自然規(guī)律才能有效防止在開發(fā)利用自然上走彎路，人類對大自然的傷害最終會傷及人類自身，這是無法抗拒的規(guī)律。

中共十九大將“堅持人與自然和諧共生”作為新時代堅持和發(fā)展中國特色社會主義的一個基本方略，提出堅持節(jié)約優(yōu)先、保護優(yōu)先、自然恢復(fù)為主的方針，形成節(jié)約資源和保護環(huán)境的空間格局、產(chǎn)業(yè)結(jié)構(gòu)、生產(chǎn)方式、生活方式，還自然以寧靜、和諧、美麗。中國主張要像保護眼睛一樣保護自然和生態(tài)環(huán)境，推動形成人與自然和諧共生新格局。

人與自然和諧共生，是對馬克思主義關(guān)于人與自然關(guān)系思想的繼承和發(fā)展，是新時代生態(tài)文明建設(shè)的一個重要目標(biāo)，也是中國建設(shè)社會主義現(xiàn)代化的一個重要特征。
