The pioneering spirit of the Red Boat which witnessed the birth of the CPC
On July 23, 1921, the Communist Party of China opened its First National Congress in Shanghai. Following an intrusion by the French concession police, the deputies decided to move the congress to Jiaxing, a water town in Zhejiang Province about 100 km south of Shanghai. This enabled the congress to be continued and concluded on a sightseeing boat on the South Lake. This boat therefore witnessed the birth of the CPC, giving rise to the idea of "the spirit of the Red Boat," which is the spirit of the Party's founders – a spirit of pioneering and resolve.
In June 2005, Xi Jinping, secretary of the provincial Party committee of Zhejiang Province, published an article on the pioneering "spirit of the Red Boat." On October 31, 2017, one week after the close of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, Xi Jinping led the newly-elected members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to visit the site of the Party's First National Congress in Shanghai, and the Red Boat in Jiaxing.
The spirit of the Red Boat is a pioneering spirit, a spirit with a firm ideal that remains indomitable in the face of adversity, and a spirit of dedication to serving the people wholeheartedly and running the Party for the public good.
紅船精神
1921年7月，限于當(dāng)時(shí)的國際國內(nèi)政治環(huán)境，中國共產(chǎn)黨第一次全國代表大會(huì)從上海轉(zhuǎn)移到浙江省嘉興南湖的一條游船上繼續(xù)舉行并順利閉幕。這條紅船見證了中國共產(chǎn)黨的誕生，成為中國革命源頭的象征，“紅船精神”也因此得名。這一精神的主要內(nèi)涵包括：開天辟地、敢為人先的首創(chuàng)精神，堅(jiān)定理想、百折不撓的奮斗精神，立黨為公、忠誠為民的奉獻(xiàn)精神。建黨百年來，“紅船精神”一直激勵(lì)著中國共產(chǎn)黨在中國歷史發(fā)展進(jìn)程中擔(dān)當(dāng)舵手、引領(lǐng)航向。
