The spirit of the Yan'an Rectification Movement
In the early 1940s, the CPC conducted a Party-wide rectification movement that extended over some years in Yan'an, the headquarters of the CPC central leadership in northern Shaanxi Province. The goal was to fight subjectivism in order to encourage study, fight factionalism in order to strengthen intra-Party relationship, and challenge Party stereotypes in order to improve the style of writing.
A spirit of rectification developed during the campaign, which involved seeking truth from facts and carrying out criticism and self-criticism. It also required Party members to uphold truth, correct errors, promote democracy, and be constructive about the rectification campaign.
The rectification movement was successful as a means of self-improvement for the CPC. It helped enhance the whole Party's theoretical awareness of Marxism, and attain ideological, political and operational unity. Rectification has since then become an effective and necessary tool for the CPC to keep itself wholesome, and encourage self-reform and self-improvement. Xi Jinping has reaffirmed the need to draw on the sound experience of the Yan’an Rectification Movement, engage in criticism and self-criticism, and strengthen intra-Party discipline.
整風精神
20世紀40年代初,中國共產黨在延安開展了一次持續數年的全黨整風運動,目的是反對主觀主義以整頓學風、反對宗派主義以整頓黨風、反對黨八股以整頓文風。在這場運動實踐中,逐步形成了整風精神,其主要內涵包括:實事求是,批評和自我批評,堅持真理、修正錯誤,發揚民主、開門整風。
整風運動是中國共產黨加強自身建設的一次成功實踐,是一個偉大創舉,極大地提高了黨的馬克思主義理論水平,使全黨在思想上、政治上、組織上達到了空前的統一和團結。從那時起,整風升華為一種精神,融入黨的血脈,成為我們黨自我凈化、自我完善、自我革新、自我提高的銳利武器,成為黨加強自身建設不可或缺的重要思想和重要方法。習近平多次強調,要借鑒延安整風經驗,以整風精神開展批評和自我批評,以整風精神嚴格黨內生活。
