Colombo Port City

Colombo Port City is a project implemented by the China Communications Construction Company Limited and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. It is currently Sri Lanka's largest foreign investment project located in Colombo's central business district. It will be built on 269 hectares of land reclaimed from the sea adjacent to the existing Port of Colombo. The whole city will have five functional zones: a financial district, a central park, an island for residence, a marina and a zone of international brands. There will be a yacht marina, a shopping mall, a medical center, schools, office buildings, luxury hotels and amusement facilities.

The Port City will have a combined floor area of 5.65 million square meters, with an initial investment of US$1.4 billion. It is expected to attract US$13 billion of further development investment.

The entire construction will continue for 25 years. After ground-breaking on September 17, 2014, the project was delayed as a result of Sri Lanka's general election and subsequent transfer of power to a new administration. After repeated efforts by China, a new tripartite agreement to proceed with the construction of the project was signed in August 2016. When construction was resumed, the Chinese side employed four extra-large trailing suction hopper dredgers that worked day and night. By January 2018, 269 hectares of land had been reclaimed from the sea, signifying major overall progress.

科倫坡港口城

科倫坡港口城由中國交通建設集團和斯里蘭卡政府聯(lián)合開發(fā)，是斯里蘭卡目前最大的外國投資項目，位于首都科倫坡核心商貿(mào)區(qū)，占地面積269公頃，通過在科倫坡港口附近填海造地的方式，規(guī)劃金融區(qū)、中央公園區(qū)、宜居生活島、游艇碼頭區(qū)、國際品牌帶動區(qū)等五大主題區(qū)域；建造布局設計精湛的甲級寫字樓、醫(yī)療中心、教育機構、休閑娛樂綜合體、游艇碼頭、購物勝地、豪華酒店等世界級的城市設施和配套項目，總建筑面積預計將達到565萬平方米。科倫坡港口城一期填海造地投資約14億美元，預計可帶動二期開發(fā)投資達130億美元。該項目由中國交通建設集團有限公司與斯里蘭卡國家港務局共同開發(fā)。工程整體工期約25年，于2014年9月17日開工，后因斯里蘭卡大選以及政府更迭等因素影響，建設進展有所延宕。經(jīng)中方多方面交涉，在2016年8月簽署新的三方協(xié)議后，該工程項目得以繼續(xù)推進。項目復工后，中方為盡快完成填海造地工程，動用四艘超大型高科技耙吸挖泥船，不分晝夜工作。2018年1月，科倫坡港口城269公頃吹填土地已全部形成，填海工程完工標志著整體項目工程取得重大進展。
