A Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation
Xi Jinping advocates a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. He pointed out, at the Central Conference on Ethnic Affairs in September 2014, that to consolidate the unity of the Chinese nation, an effective long-term approach is to foster shared cultural identity and cultural belonging, and create a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.
Xi reiterated this view in his report to the 19th National Congress of the CPC and called for more exchanges and interactions among different ethnic groups so that they will unite closely and work together for common prosperity and development.
The Chinese nation is a community of shared past and shared future. The ethnic groups that make up the Chinese nation can look forward to bright prospects only when they integrate their future with that of the whole nation.
History proves that a sense of community is the foundation for China’s national unity and ethnic solidarity, and the soul of China. To make the Chinese Dream come true, China should further enhance public awareness of this sense, and cement the political, theoretical and social foundations for all ethnic groups to unite.
中華民族共同體意識
中華民族共同體意識是習近平倡導的重要理念之一。2014年9月，習近平在中央民族工作會議暨國務院第六次全國民族團結進步表彰大會上提出，加強中華民族大團結，長遠和根本的是增強文化認同，建設各民族共有精神家園，積極培養中華民族共同體意識。中共十九大報告進一步提出，鑄牢中華民族共同體意識，加強各民族交往交流交融，促進各民族像石榴籽一樣緊緊抱在一起，共同團結奮斗、共同繁榮發展。中華民族是一個命運共同體，一榮俱榮、一損俱損。各民族只有把自己的命運同中華民族的命運緊緊連接在一起，才有前途，才有希望。歷史證明，中華民族共同體意識是國家統一之基、民族團結之本、精神力量之魂。實現中華民族偉大復興的中國夢，需要進一步培育中華民族共同體意識，筑牢各族人民團結奮斗的政治基礎、思想基礎和社會基礎。
