Building a Beautiful China
A beautiful environment is beneficial to the people and the future of the nation. The report to the 18th National Congress of the CPC called for hard work to build a beautiful country, and achieve lasting and sustainable development of the Chinese nation. The report to the 19th CPC National Congress proposed speeding up reform of the system for developing an ecological civilization, and building a beautiful China. It also set the goal of developing China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous by the middle of the 21st century.
Building a beautiful China is an important part of the Chinese Dream. It calls for respecting, protecting and being in harmony with nature, based on the understanding that “l(fā)ucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” China should implement its key national policy on resource conservation, environmental protection, and promotion of green, circular and low-carbon development. The initiative underscores the need to leave more space for nature to renew itself, to keep more land for cultivation, and to bequeath a better working and living environment to future generations so that they can be blessed with blue sky, green fields, and clean water.
The Chinese Dream will not be realized at the expense of the environment. Economic development should be accompanied by strong measures to protect the environment. Building a beautiful China will be of benefit to the country’s long-term development, to promoting sustainable global development, and to fulfilling the universal dream of protecting our beautiful earth.
美麗中國(guó)
建設(shè)生態(tài)文明，關(guān)系人民福祉，關(guān)乎民族未來(lái)。中共十八大報(bào)告提出，努力建設(shè)美麗中國(guó)，實(shí)現(xiàn)中華民族永續(xù)發(fā)展。中共十九大報(bào)告進(jìn)一步提出，加快生態(tài)文明體制改革，建設(shè)美麗中國(guó)。并且提出從2035年到本世紀(jì)中葉，在基本實(shí)現(xiàn)現(xiàn)代化的基礎(chǔ)上，再奮斗十五年，把中國(guó)建成富強(qiáng)民主文明和諧美麗的社會(huì)主義現(xiàn)代化強(qiáng)國(guó)。建設(shè)美麗中國(guó)成為中國(guó)夢(mèng)的重要內(nèi)容。具體而言，就是要按照尊重自然、順應(yīng)自然、保護(hù)自然的原則，秉持“既要金山銀山，又要綠水青山”“綠水青山就是金山銀山”的理念，貫徹節(jié)約資源和保護(hù)環(huán)境的基本國(guó)策，更加自覺(jué)地推動(dòng)綠色發(fā)展、循環(huán)發(fā)展、低碳發(fā)展；就是要給自然留下更多修復(fù)空間，給農(nóng)業(yè)留下更多良田，為子孫后代留下天藍(lán)、地綠、水清的生產(chǎn)生活環(huán)境。中國(guó)夢(mèng)的實(shí)現(xiàn)不以犧牲環(huán)境為代價(jià)，在發(fā)展經(jīng)濟(jì)的同時(shí)，保護(hù)好生態(tài)環(huán)境。建設(shè)美麗中國(guó)，有利于中國(guó)的長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)發(fā)展，也將助推世界可持續(xù)發(fā)展，更有助于實(shí)現(xiàn)人類共同的夢(mèng)想——保護(hù)美麗的地球。
