Building a Beautiful China
The wellbeing of our people and the future of our nation hinge on our efforts to preserve and protect the natural environment. During its 18th National Congress, the CPC therefore placed environmental preservation and protection at the top of the agenda for building a socialist country with Chinese characteristics, alongside economic, political, cultural, and social progress. It unveiled its vision to step up environmental initiatives to build a beautiful China and ensure our nation’s future development.
Building a beautiful China is an important element of the Chinese Dream. It calls for respecting, protecting, and living in harmony with nature. While we hanker after “gold mountains”, we cannot do without green mountains, as green mountains are also gold mountains. The push to build a beautiful China is based on a key national policy of resource conservation, environmental protection, and promotion of green, circular and low-carbon development. It underscores the need for leaving more space for nature to renew itself, keeping more land for cultivation, and bequeathing a better working and living environment to future generations so that they will be blessed with blue skies, green mountains, and clear waters.
The Chinese Dream will not be realized at the expense of the environment. Economic development should be accompanied by strong measures of ecological protection. The initiative to build a beautiful China will be of benefit to the country’s long-term development, to promoting sustainable global development, and to fulfilling the universal dream of protecting our beautiful earth.
建設(shè)“美麗中國”
建設(shè)生態(tài)文明，關(guān)系人民福祉，關(guān)乎民族未來。黨的十八大把生態(tài)文明建設(shè)納入中國特色社會(huì)主義事業(yè)五位一體總體布局，明確提出大力推進(jìn)生態(tài)文明建設(shè)，努力建設(shè)美麗中國，實(shí)現(xiàn)中華民族永續(xù)發(fā)展。建設(shè)美麗中國是中國夢的重要內(nèi)容，就是要按照尊重自然、順應(yīng)自然、保護(hù)自然的理念，堅(jiān)持“既要金山銀山，又要綠水青山” “綠水青山就是金山銀山”的理念，貫徹節(jié)約資源和保護(hù)環(huán)境的基本國策，更加自覺地推動(dòng)綠色發(fā)展、循環(huán)發(fā)展、低碳發(fā)展。建設(shè)美麗中國，就是要給自然留下更多修復(fù)空間，給農(nóng)業(yè)留下更多良田，為子孫后代留下天藍(lán)、地綠、水清的生產(chǎn)生活環(huán)境。中國夢的實(shí)現(xiàn)不以犧牲環(huán)境為代價(jià)，在發(fā)展經(jīng)濟(jì)的同時(shí)，保護(hù)好生態(tài)環(huán)境。建設(shè)“美麗中國”，有利于中國的長遠(yuǎn)發(fā)展，也將助推世界可持續(xù)發(fā)展，更有助于實(shí)現(xiàn)人類共同的夢想：保護(hù)美麗的地球。
