Remain True to Our Original Aspiration
During a study and inspection tour in early February, 2016, Xi Jinping emphasized that "no matter how long the journey, we should remain true to our original aspiration".
In his speech of July 1, 2016 at the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, he called upon all the members of the entire Party to "remain true to our original aspiration and keep moving forward as we face the future and face our challenges".
Subsequently, "remaining true to our original aspiration" rapidly became an axiom which attracted a great deal of attention throughout society. Put simply, the "original aspiration" was the fighting spirit which was formed when its members founded the Party, and their devotion to the people. To "remain true to our aspiration" is to never forget the Party's ideas, beliefs and mission. To always remain true to our aspiration means always having Marxism as our guide.
It means remembering that from its very beginnings the Chinese Communist Party fought for communism and socialism, and making that one's own creed. It means remaining confident in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It means promoting the Overall Plan for Development in Five Areas and the Four-pronged Strategy. It means firmly upholding reform and opening up. It requires a firm belief that the Party is rooted in the people and that its strength comes from them. It means never deviating from the path of peaceful development and following a strategy of opening up which is beneficial to all. It means keeping the Party advanced and free of corruption.
不忘初心
2016年2月初，習近平在調(diào)研考察時強調(diào)，“行程萬里、不忘初心”；2016年7月1日，他在中國共產(chǎn)黨成立95周年慶祝大會上號召全黨： “面向未來，面對挑戰(zhàn)，全黨同志一定要不忘初心、繼續(xù)前進。”此后，“不忘初心”迅速成為社會各界高度關注的熱詞。簡單來說，“初心”就是中國共產(chǎn)黨人自建黨之初就樹立的奮斗精神和對人民的赤子之心。“不忘初心”，就是不能忘記黨的理想、信念、宗旨。堅持不忘初心，就要堅持馬克思主義的指導地位，就要牢記中國共產(chǎn)黨從成立起就把為共產(chǎn)主義、社會主義而奮斗確定為自己的綱領，就要堅持中國特色社會主義道路自信、理論自信、制度自信、文化自信，就要統(tǒng)籌推進“五位一體”總體布局，協(xié)調(diào)推進“四個全面”戰(zhàn)略布局，就要堅定不移高舉改革開放旗幟，就要堅信黨的根基在人民、黨的力量在人民，就要始終不渝走和平發(fā)展道路、奉行互利共贏的開放戰(zhàn)略，就要保持黨的先進性和純潔性。
