Boao Forum for Asia
The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) is a nongovernmental and nonprofit international organization with a fixed conference date and a fixed location.
Proposed in 1998 by Fidel V. Ramos, former President of the Philippines, Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia, and Morihiro Hosokawa, former Prime Minister of Japan, the BFA was formally inaugurated on February 27, 2001.
The BFA has won great support from Asian countries and attracted extensive attention from the whole world. It has become a high-end platform for dialog among leaders of national governments, industrial and business circles, and academic circles of countries in Asia and the wider world about important issues facing Asia and elsewhere.
The purpose of the BFA is to work from its base in Asia to promote and extend economic exchanges, coordination, and cooperation within Asia and between Asia and other parts of the world. It also aims to create a high-end dialog platform for governments, enterprises, experts, and academics to discuss economic, social, environmental and other relevant issues. Through its networks in political, business, and academic circles, the BFA will serve the ever-growing economic cooperation among its members and between its members and other entities.
Boao in China's Hainan Province serves as the permanent site of the BFA Headquarters. The BFA has held its annual conference at Boao since 2002. As the host, Chinese state leaders attend every annual conference and deliver a keynote speech on China's philosophy of development and cooperation among BFA members.
博鰲亞洲論壇
博鰲亞洲論壇（BFA）是一個非政府、非營利性、定期、定址的國際組織，致力于通過區(qū)域經(jīng)濟(jì)的進(jìn)一步整合，推進(jìn)亞洲國家實(shí)現(xiàn)共同發(fā)展。論壇由菲律賓前總統(tǒng)拉莫斯、澳大利亞前總理霍克及日本前首相細(xì)川護(hù)熙于1998年倡議，并于2001年2月27日正式宣告成立。論壇得到亞洲各國普遍支持，贏得世界廣泛關(guān)注。論壇目前已成為亞洲以及其他大洲有關(guān)國家政府、工商界和學(xué)術(shù)界領(lǐng)袖就亞洲以及全球重要事務(wù)進(jìn)行對話的高層次平臺。
論壇的宗旨是立足亞洲，面向世界，促進(jìn)和深化本地區(qū)內(nèi)和本地區(qū)與世界其他地區(qū)間的經(jīng)濟(jì)交流、協(xié)調(diào)與合作。為政府、企業(yè)及專家學(xué)者等提供一個共商經(jīng)濟(jì)、社會、環(huán)境及其他相關(guān)問題的高層對話平臺。通過論壇與政界、商界及學(xué)術(shù)界建立的工作網(wǎng)絡(luò)為會員與會員之間、會員與非會員之間日益擴(kuò)大的經(jīng)濟(jì)合作提供服務(wù)。
中國海南博鰲為論壇總部的永久地所在。從2002年開始，論壇每年定期在博鰲召開年會。作為東道國，中國國家領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人每年都會出席博鰲亞洲論壇年會并在開幕式上發(fā)表主旨演講，闡述中國的發(fā)展理念，推動成員國間的合作。
