China's accession to the WTO
China formally joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) and became its 143rd member on December 11, 2001. This was an event of vital importance in its course of reform and opening up.
The country had gone through a lengthy and complicated process of tough negotiations, from working toward re-admission to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) till its admission to the WTO. The Chinese government formally applied to GATT on July 10, 1986 to have its status as a contracting party restored, and in November 1995 the negotiation transitioned to China's accession to the WTO. The Working Party on China's Accession met for the first time in Geneva in March 1996, and on September 17, 2001 the Working Party held its 18th session to adopt all the legal documents on China's accession and also to complete its own historical mission.
Since its entry to the WTO, China has further integrated with and become an irreplaceable force in the international economy, while benefiting from globalization. "Mutually beneficial" is an accurate description of China's relationship with the rest of the world. China firmly supports multilateral trade systems. It will always be a responsible WTO member and make a positive contribution to multilateral trade systems.
中國加入世界貿(mào)易組織
在中國改革開放歷史進(jìn)程中，“入世”是一個關(guān)鍵轉(zhuǎn)折。2001年12月11日，中國正式加入世界貿(mào)易組織（WTO），成為其第143個成員。中國為了加入世界貿(mào)易組織，曾經(jīng)歷了從“復(fù)關(guān)”到入世的異常艱難、曲折、復(fù)雜、漫長的馬拉松式談判過程。1986年7月10日，中國政府正式提出申請，恢復(fù)中國在關(guān)貿(mào)總協(xié)定中的締約國地位。1995年11月，中國復(fù)關(guān)談判轉(zhuǎn)為加入WTO的談判。1996年3月，世貿(mào)組織中國工作組第一次正式會議在日內(nèi)瓦召開。2001年9月17日，世貿(mào)組織中國工作組第18次會議舉行正式會議，通過了中國入世的所有法律文件，同時也結(jié)束了世貿(mào)組織中國工作組的全部工作。
“入世”17年來，中國在不斷受益于全球化發(fā)展的同時，也更加深入地融入世界經(jīng)濟(jì)，成為促進(jìn)世界經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展不可缺少的重要力量。互利共贏，是對這17年來中國與世界關(guān)系變化的準(zhǔn)確描述。中國是多邊貿(mào)易體制堅(jiān)定的支持者，將一如既往做負(fù)責(zé)任的世界貿(mào)易組織成員，積極參與多邊貿(mào)易體制建設(shè)。
