Karot hydropower project
The Karot hydropower project is located on the Jhelum River, one of the rivers of the Indus River System in Northern Pakistan, about 55 kilometers east of Islamabad. It is the first hydropower project implemented under the Belt and Road Initiative, and the first project financed by the Silk Road Fund since its inception in 2014. It is also one of the priority projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the largest green field investment project ever undertaken overseas by a Chinese company.
The project is being developed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. Started at the end of 2015, it is scheduled to be operational by 2020. After completion, it will be operated by the construction contractor for 30 years, after which the ownership will be transferred to the Pakistani government at no cost.
With an investment of US$1.65 billion, the power station will have an installed capacity of 720MW and an average annual output of 3.2GWh. In addition to power generation, it will help flood prevention and sediment control, and improve downstream and reservoir area transport services. The project is expected to create more than 2,000 new jobs, and will spur coordinated and upgraded development in related sectors.
卡洛特水電站
卡洛特水電站位于巴基斯坦北部印度河支流吉拉姆河上，距離首都伊斯蘭堡的直線距離約55公里，是“一帶一路”建設(shè)的首個(gè)水電項(xiàng)目，也是絲路基金2014年底注冊(cè)成立后投資的首個(gè)項(xiàng)目，同時(shí)還是“中巴經(jīng)濟(jì)走廊”優(yōu)先實(shí)施的能源項(xiàng)目之一，更是迄今為止中國(guó)企業(yè)在海外投資在建的最大綠地水電項(xiàng)目。該項(xiàng)目采用“建設(shè)-經(jīng)營(yíng)-轉(zhuǎn)讓”（BOT）的運(yùn)作模式，已于2015年底正式開工建設(shè)，預(yù)計(jì)2020年可以投入運(yùn)營(yíng)，運(yùn)營(yíng)期為30年，到期后無(wú)償轉(zhuǎn)讓給巴基斯坦政府?該水電站的規(guī)劃裝機(jī)容量是72萬(wàn)千瓦，每年發(fā)電32.13億度，總投資金額約16.5億美元。除主要用于發(fā)電外，該項(xiàng)目還有防洪、攔沙、改善下游航運(yùn)條件和發(fā)展庫(kù)區(qū)通航等綜合效益。項(xiàng)目建設(shè)期間，可為當(dāng)?shù)靥峁?000多個(gè)直接就業(yè)崗位，同時(shí)將帶動(dòng)當(dāng)?shù)仉娏ε涮仔袠I(yè)的協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展和產(chǎn)業(yè)升級(jí)。
