Toyota Motor Corp yesterday announced that sales of its Reiz sedan topped 100,000 units in China over the past two years and played a key role in achieving aggressive sales in the world's second largest auto market.
The mid-to-high class sedan was locally built by FAW Toyota, a joint venture formed by Toyota and China's First Automotive Works Group, and hit the market in 2005 as the first Chinese-made front-engine, rear-drive sedan in China.
It has been competing with Ford's Mondeo, General Motors Corp's LaCrosse, Nissan's Teana and Honda's Accord in the premier car market expanding at over 20 percent growth year on year.
Toyota introduced revamped Reiz sedans in China in October including the sporty edition of its 2.5V Reiz.
