Strategic reserve for rare metals called for

Yesterday at the 2007 International Strategic Metals Summit, Pan Jiazhu, vice director of the Chinese Association of Nonferrous Metal Industry, said that China hasn't given any legal status to its rare strategic metals.

 

Currently, countries like the United States and Japan have all established systems to control the export of rare metals and to manage their strategic reserves. However, China still has no schedule for the establishment of strategic reserves.

 

Pan urged competent departments to step up legislation to provide legal support for the protection of rare metal resources.
