Consultations on the new Security Council draft resolution against Iran seemed making progress, UN diplomats said Monday.

Ambassadors from the six countries, including the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, met again Monday afternoon at the UN Headquarters in New York on the elements of the draft resolution imposing sanctions on Iran against its unyielding nuclear program.

French Ambassador Jean-Marc de La Sabliere told reporters after the two-hour meeting that "this is the best meeting we have had since the beginning of these negotiations ... and we have many progress."

"We are going to send the outcome of our discussion to our capitals," he added.

British Ambassador Emyr Jones Parry also claimed that the six countries have made many substantial progress, and will wait for instructions from capitals overnight.

He said the six will meet on Tuesday morning, and will inform other Council members on the progress they have made.
