On the eve of July 1, this reporter, Wu Yingchun, went to the State Bureau of Radio, Film and Television to visit three veteran foreign experts, Mr. Takano Hiromi and Mr. Soeda Syuhei of Japanese nationality and Mr. Mohammad Jamil Din Mialam of Malaysian nationality, who are working there.
They have long been living and working in China, with the longest being 63 years and the shortest nearly 40 years. They have heard and seen the great achievements gained by the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in winning national liberation, in the founding of New China and in the construction of a modernized country. From the bottom of their hearts they praise the Communist Party as "terrific" for its tremendous contribution to the international communist movement, and sincerely wish the CPC still greater achievements made in the new century.
Mr. Hiromi came to China in 1938 who has visited Guangdong Province, Shanghai, Beijing and many other places and has seen with his own eyes the hard and bitter struggles waged by the Dongjiang Column and the Eighth-Route Army led by the CPC. He said many Communists had laid down their lives, but they feared no sacrifice, advanced wave upon wave and persevered in struggle. At that time he read many reports about this from local newspapers and magazines.
After victory in the War of Resistance against Japan, the CPC again led the people in three years of Liberation War, Mr. Hiromi had personally experienced this. "Without the Communist Party, there would have been no New China", this is a historical conclusion.
Experts unanimously praised that the birth of New China is a great, epoch-making event and is the practice and victory of the Marxist-Leninist theory in China. As the most populous country in the world, China has since stood up, which has expanded the force of socialism in the world, that is the contribution of the CPC to the international communist movement.
The experts have pointed out that the CPC is able to proceed from China's realities and creatively apply Marxist-Leninist theory, it has thus found not only the correct road to the liberation of China, but also the road to building socialism with Chinese characteristics, that is, the road of reform and opening up and the road to national prosperity and strength, and this is also something terrific.
They said that for many years, China's economy has been developing at a 7 percent rate and beyond, forming a sharp contrast to the economic depression in some countries. The Chinese people's living standards have kept rising, the market is prospering and commodities are abundant, Japanese and Malaysians who have been in China are surprised at seeing all these, saying that China's development and change are really fast. China has scored achievements of world attention and has had ever-larger influence in the world. Many people in the world have come to China to learn from its successful experiences in reform and development. In their opinion, this is the CPC's contribution to world peace, development and prosperity.
Mr. Mohammad Jamil Din Mialam, who was invited to work in China in the 1950s, said the purpose of the Chinese Communist Party is "to serve the people", it upholds the mass line and thus enjoys the support of the people.
Japanese expert Mr. Soeda Syuhei, who came to China in 1963, said he came to work in China at that time with the aim of getting a direct understanding of the Chinese Communist Party. That year, China was launching the campaign to learn from Lei Feng (1940-62), a PLA soldier who died while on duty, his spirit of serving the people wholeheartedly, this was followed by the emulation of Jiao Yulu who was secretary of a county Party committee in Henan Province and a good public servant, their deeds were also broadcast by the China Radio International.
This gave him a great touch, thinking that the CPC is composed of people such as Lei Feng and Jiao Yulu, one can see in them that the CPC is a political party serving the people and this is also terific! In addition, he felt there are many such Communists as Lei Feng and Jiao Yulu, working on his side are such people, he said.
He remembered in 1976 when a strong earthquake hit Tangshan in Hebei Province, Beijing was affected, this made it impossible to live and work inside houses and buildings, because there were unceasing aftershocks, the situation was very dangerous. But broadcasting must be done inside the house because broadcasting equipment could not be moved out. At that time, the broadcaster was a Communist Party member, he risked his life to continue work in the office. Deeply moved he said, "This is the Communist Party!"
On the occasion when the whole country is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, these veteran experts extend their warm congratulations to the CPC and its over 60 million members and thank the Party and government for the solicitude shown for them. They praise the CPC for treasuring knowledge and taking care of talents, thinking that this is an important experience of the CPC in achieving successes in its cause. They respectively cited concrete examples to illustrate the solicitude and loving care shown by Chinese leaders to them, thinking that this is a manifestation of the CPC's loving care for talents.
In the homes of these veteran experts, this reporter saw photos showing Chinese State leaders, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin, meeting with them. All these are unforgettable to them in their life span, they indicated that they would continue to contribute to China's development and construction by spreading the policy and voice of the CPC and government to the whole world and would continue their efforts for the friendship between the Chinese people and people of other countries.
