A major cross-border drug-trafficking case between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) was cracked by Chinese police with the arrest of 20 suspects, including five ROK citizens, the Ministry of Public Security said Monday.
According to sources with the ministry, 14.1 kg of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly-known as "ice," some 100 kg of ephedrine, five kg of semi-finished "ice," 0.27 kg of marijuana and five kg of chemicals for making narcotics were seized in the case.
Local police in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, and Qingdao, a coastal city in east China's Shandong Province, who shouldered the major work of the case, have also raided two underground narcotics manufacturing factories and confiscated a large amount of equipment.
Two criminal gangs involved in the making, smuggling and trafficking of "ice" with members from the ROK have been arrested by local police in Shenyang, Qingdao and Dalian.
