China won all four athletics events contested at the 4th East Asian Games in Macao this morning, bringing its event total to 31 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes.

Li Meiju won the women's shot put with a 18.12 m result, well ahead of Japanese Yoko Tononaga's16.89 m and Chinese Liu Yingfan's 16.50 m.

Li said victory was sweet but the result so-so. "I feel tired from the Chinese National Games and I am not in my best shape," she said. Li won the gold in the National Games early this month.

Jing Xuezhu and teammate Zheng Xingjuan took the first two places in the women's high jump. Jing cleared 1.85 m for the gold and Zheng took the silver with the same height. South Korean Park In-hee won the bronze with 1.70 m.

Wu Tao and Tulake Nuermainaiti also won gold and silver for China in the men's discus final. Wu threw 61.74 m beating his teammate by 2.53 m. South Korean Choi Jong-bum came third with 54.19 m.

In the women's 10,000 meter relay, Chinese Bao Guiying pulled away in the last stretch to win in 34 minutes and 17 seconds. Japanese Hiromi Ominami finished second in 32:36.62 with North Korean Paek Hyan-gok third in 34:53.06.

China also won the gymnastic women's team event and all three weightlifting golds yesterday, on top of all three weightlifting golds the day before.
