Email, An E-must for Students and Teachers in Beijing
In order to help students' study through the Internet during the holidays, every student and teacher of primary and secondary schools in Beijing will communicate via email.

Students of primary and secondary schools will continue their holidays for another two weeks. After the opening of online classes (study.bjedu.gov.cn) by the Internet School of the municipal education committee, the res.bjedu.gov.cn and www.cbern.gov.cn began on May 6.

The Beijing Municipal Education Committee asked that every student and teacher of primary and secondary schools in Beijing build their own emails for teaching information exchange only. Teachers can set and correct students' papers; students can hand in their homework and exchange information via the Internet system. It is also good for teachers to tutor individual students according to their own needs.

According to the requirements of the Beijing Municipal Education Committee, schools are responsible for the establishment and management of all students' information and emails. The email address should adopt the uniform domain which is registered by schools, using bjedu.cn as the suffix. The user names will be registered by uniform rules in order to make it convenient for teachers to set information. The students' email may be named: student's name@school's name.bjedu.cn.

Beijing students can have access to Internet education through the 96550 dial-up hotline service provided especially by Beijing Telecommunication Company. The ID is ?bjedu? and the password is ?bjedu?. Students can enter the homepage of Beijing Education Information Website directly through the hotline. The cost of the hotline is 2.4 yuan (29 cents) per hour, and the highest controlled price is 66 yuan (US$7.97) per month.
