Massive Investment in Yellow River Tourism Area
A huge fund of more than 100 million yuan (US$12.1 million) is to be invested in the Yellow River Tourism Area, located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Some scenic spots of Wulong (Five-dragon) Mount will receive tourists as early as next May 1. The whole project is to be completed by 2010.

The project has been designed by Beijing Beilin Landscape Architecture Institute together with the Yellow River Tourism Area Management Office, according to an official from the Yellow River Tourism Area. The layout supplements and perfects the Overall Planning of the Yellow River Scenic Spots which was drawn out in 1995. The whole scenic scope includes the Huayuankou Dam to the east, the Erwang Town to the west, the Jigong Temple and Dahe Ruins to the south, and the edge of Yellow River canton center to the north, covering a total area of 108 square kilometers (26,687 acres).

The project places a great emphasis on both protection and development, making use of the Yellow River?s long history and unique geography, as well as many historic cultural sites. The famous mountains during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the ancient ferry on the Yellow River and Yangshao Culture in Dahe area will be further explored. A new history museum will also be built to display the Yellow River culture from different periods.

The project?s layout aims to blend the best of the Yellow River?s landscape and scenery with history and cultural education. According to the plans, the statues of emperors Yandi and Huangdi, the Yellow River agricultural garden and China steles museum will be constructed between 2002 and 2005.
