American pop diva Mariah Carey, escorted by her husband Nick Cannon, arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday night as typhoon Hagupit lashed the city, Ming Pao reports.

The CX831 flight carrying the singer was scheduled to arrive at 6:50 p.m., but landed almost an hour late due to heavy rain and strong winds, the report said.

Mariah Carey was invited by the CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets to give a private concert on Thursday night at its Investors' Forum. The concert will only be open to conference attendees, so tickets will not go on sale to the public.

This is the first time that Carey has come to the city to perform. In 2006, she planned to perform in Hong Kong during her "Adventures of Mimi" tour, but the show was canceled due to what the promoter called "poor ticket sales."
