Tibetan Buddhist festival opens

A huge Buddhist image on a large tangka, a kind of scroll painting mounted on brocade,is being displayed at the opening ceremony of the Shoton (Yogurt) Festival celebration in Zhaibung Monastery in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Regional, August 30, 2008. Tangka Paintings display is one of the various activities held during the Shoton Festival.

The most memorable section of the Olympic Closing Ceremony was the magical Memory Tower. I saw it as some kind of Tower of Babel, a temporary symbol of united humanity together in the stadium.
