The ceiling outside the coffin chamber was consolidated by layers of lime and mud. The 3.3-meter-tall door outside the chamber was made of grey bricks engraved with various patterns, such as lotuses. Decorative carvings were also found on a triangle-shaped area above the chamber door, where the wood-like material features figures of human beings.

Archaeologists also found in the tomb an inscribed 50-centimeter-long tablet. Because the characters faded from years of erosion, the owners of the tomb remain unknown. However, Chen said that size of the tomb indicates the owner was most likely aristocrat.

A porcelain jar was found in a tomb built for an aristocrat some 1,400 years ago. Archaeologists from Nanjing Museum have found 13 relics in total in the tomb.

The archaeological team also found 13 porcelain and pottery relics within the tomb and plans to send them to Nanjing Museum.

The tomb excavation will continue for the next four to five days.
