Hams in the front line in communications relief
They are amateur radio enthusiasts also known as "Hams". They initiated their relief efforts after the May 12 earthquake before other communication channels were back in operation in the quake-hit areas.

Shifang, a city devastated by the May 12 earthquake, needs timely reconstruction. While talking to Beijing News, Li Chengjin, the city's mayor, gave specifics about the disaster situation during the quake and talked about post-quake reconstruction.
