On May 13 Sichuan Disaster Relief Headquarters decided on to send 6,000 airborne troops and 250 medical personnel to Mianyang for rescue work. 3,000 troops will be allocated in Beichuan County, the severest quake-hit area. Anxian County and Pingwu County will be allocated 2,000 and 1,000 respectively, according to people.com.cn.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, State Council, provincial Party committee and provincial government of Sichuan have attached great importance to the quake-hit areas and kept close watch on the latest disaster-relief work developments. The State Council has assembled airborne troops to support the rescue work and Vice Governor of Sichuan?Zhang Zuoha has already arrived in Anxian County to direct the rescue work personally.

Led by the provincial government, Sichuan has already sent 17 medical teams to Mianyang throughout the night to help with the rescue work and another 10 teams are due to arrive today. 3,700 People's Liberation Army soldiers and 650 armed policemen are assembling in Mianyang. Ten trucks of food have also been sent on the way.
