New opportunity for Qufu's mulberry paper craft

The protection of intangible cultural heritage has been emphasized in Wangzhuang town, Qufu city.
As a distinctive invention, paper craft was on Shandong province's list of intangible objects to preserve in 2010. The case was highly publicized and attracted many folk artists and students.
The production of mulberry paper started under the Song Dynasty and flourished under the Qing Dynasty. Under the reign of Qian Long, over 300 families were mulberry paper producers. The Republic of China has an annual output of 50000 pieces, with an output value of more than 0.2 million silver dollar.
In 2012, the Party Committee of the town of Wangzhuang established the project "Millennium Zhifang Cultural Tribes" with an investment of 150 million yuan. The project will be completed in 2014 and will cover an area of 120 mu. A comprehensive introduction of the craft will then be demonstrated to visitors.
The craft of mulberry paper can carry forward culture and develop local tourism.
