Linyi University, in east China's Shandong Province, will establish its first Confucius Institute at William Carey University in Mississippi, United States. Officials from the two universities attended an agreement-signing ceremony in the U.S.

Ding Fengyun, secretary of Linyi University's committee of the Communist Party of China, and Tommy King, president of William Carey University, signed the agreement on behalf on both universities.

According to the terms of the agreement, Linyi University will send full-time teachers to the college to teach Chinese, provide Chinese cultural education and organize the training of Chinese teachers.
