Huge clouds of green algae have formed off the coast of Qingdao. The scientific term for the algae is "enteromorpha prolifera", and they have made their way from the central Yellow Sea area. The potential disaster occurred suddenly, and covers a wide area. Both the central and local authorities have ordered a maximum effort to remove and disperse the algae.
