BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Horse version of Bing Dwen Dwen, mascot of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, officially hit the market on Friday.
The mascot's Chinese zodiac series continues to carry forward the Olympic legacy after Beijing 2022. Following the previous tiger, rabbit, Chinese dragon and snake versions, the horse-themed Bing Dwen Dwen was initially unveiled in Beijing on November 14.
Dressed in a costume featuring horse elements, the mascot was designed to celebrate the Year of the Horse and the fourth anniversary of Beijing 2022 in February 2026.
In the traditional Chinese culture, the horse represents a symbol of loyalty and bravery, delivering best wishes and indicating a bright future.
"Chinese people have a special affection for the horse. Its spiritual implications that have endured for thousands of years still inspire people today," said Lin Cunzhen, a designer of Bing Dwen Dwen horse version.
"Unlike the standing posture of Chinese zodiac series before, the horse version runs forward to better perform its nature," Lin added.
According to the designers, there are about 20 licensed products of Bing Dwen Dwen horse version, including toys and badges, available both online and offline in designated stores. Enditem
